around school this week

We celebrated Indigenous People's Day last week by inviting the community and all classes to the gym to watch the elder talks from the Cultural Center in Bethel. The K/1 classes made a banner following their lessons. Lucy Lupie also spoke to students during the event.

First year teachers made it into Bethel for training - all 5 of them! Big thanks to all of the substitute teachers that helped to fill those classrooms.

fresh fruit in TuntElementary students are still enjoying their fresh fruit and vegetable snacks - this week they were able to try sweet peppers and papaya!

The VTC Astronomy classes built their own telescopes this past week. We appreciate the engagement that is built into the VTC classes.

Jr. High students studied seed dispersal and created their own seed dispersal devices using a variety of materials and then tested the effectiveness of the devices.

Bethel Family Clinic visited Tuntutuliak this week and completed 53 physicals. They even brought a drone with them and took some amazing footage of the school and village.

Our Mission Statement

The mission of the Lewis Angapak Memorial School is to support student academic, social, and emotional growth in order for the students to achieve their full potential. Students develop skills that will enable them to be self-directed, life long learners, and capable of surviving and thriving in two worlds. In addition, to ensure self-sufficiency we teach a curriculum aligned with Alaska State Standards as well as traditional language and cultural skills in both English and Yupik.
